  1. Support WAP, ADFS for RD Web Client

The newly released (https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2018/03/28/remote-desktop-web-client-public-preview/) HTML5 client should support Web Application Proxy and ADFS. Doing so we'd have the ability to provide MFA and externally (securely) publish the resources.

  2. URLs to specific resources

Create static URLs to specific resources. This would allow for bookmarking specific resources in a browser and even putting those shortcuts on end-user desktops and start menus. If Windows Hello SSO were used for initial authentication then the process of clicking on a link to a resource would be seamless.

  4. Ability to brand the web client

We need a simpler CSS so that we can adapt the basic look and feel (primarilly colors and logo) to make the site look like a company site.
Also simple ways of changing support mail and support URL to point to local IT support. The language files are great right now, but the CSS is more or less unreadable...

  5. Add an option for 2 factor authentication

A 2 factor authentication option (like Google authenticator) to more secure the HTML client from the web would be nice.

  6. Open links and attachments on local machine

Allow opening attachemnts and links (URLs) on local machine.
    1. PDF, Word, Excel documents available on remote machine to be opened in local installation of respective applications
    2. Links available in remote applications (in hard clients) to be opened in new tabs of local web browsers.

  7. Windows Hello (Azure AD) Authentication

Enable Windows Hello auth on the initial sign-in page.

Use the login from the initial sign-in page to allow SSO to all published RemoteApps and Session Hosts.

  8. Match desktop/application language with browser language

Today the keyboard/language is always set to Eng/US for the desktop regardless of what language the browser is set to, what language the user selects on the web page or the language previously selected by the user in the application/desktop. Suggest that the system remebers the language/keyboard layout selected by the user or sets the same as the browser language if the user has not done a selection in the application/desktop.

  9. Support Basic Authentication for SSO

On the classic remote desktop web access, one can enable Basic authentication on the application in IIS to sign on. I would like to have this working on this new web client too. (It allows scenario's where a reverse proxy/external loadbalancer handles authentication and sends it inside the http header)

  10. Integrate Web Client with RDWeb RemoteApp and detect device OS

The Remote Desktop Web Client is a great addition to allow users to able to connect to RDS from devices which have a HTML5 web browser. It is a poor user experience though in that it is totally separate from RemoteApp (/RDWeb) which we have used for years.

Most users are used to going to remote.mycompany.com which redirects them to https://remote.mycompany.com/RDWeb. Users should still be able to sign in to RemoteApp and if the device does not have a supported RDP Client then RemoteApp should have an option in the config to redirect them to https://remote.mycompany.com/RDWeb/webclient without requiring them…

  13. HTML5 Client and ability to change password on first login

On the old client, you can have the option to ask user to change its password on the first login.

On the new HTML5 client this option is missing and IMHO it's a must have

  14. Support for custom RDP properties

We are using custom RDP properties on some RD-Session collections and the WebClient does not seem to support that.

Example: We use the folowing command to set another RD Gateway for a specific collection.

    "Set-RDSessionCollectionConfiguration -CollectionName "CollectionNaem" -CustomRdpProperty" "gatewayhostname:s:gw2.domain.com"

Any future plans to support custom RDP properties on the WebClient?

    /Andreas

  16. Change view from Icon to List

We have many descriptive names for our RemoteApps, which makes them too long when showing up in the web client, so I have to hover over the app to get the full name.

  18. Redirecting of the desktop file open and save dialog to a browser file upload and download functionality

This goes beyond the suggestion https://remotedesktop.uservoice.com/forums/911494-remote-desktop-web-client/suggestions/34150798-copy-and-paste-files but it would allow to deliver a more seamless user experience.

At the point where the desktop application makes use of the the system's file open or save as dialog, we should be able to "redirect" this functionality to the generated HTML5 website. Internally, this of course could use the copy&paste functionality to deliver the file to the session host.

  19. Configure HTML5 Client to support Smart Card Authentication and Derived Credentials on mobile devices.

Currently the HTML5 client doesn't support certificate based authentication. This creates a gap in functionality for existing RDS solutions using certificate based authentication.

  20. Move the menu

Allow the minimised menu to be moved from dead centre at the top of the screen, or disappeared altogether, so you can see the maximised window title.
